Fourth grade. That’s when I was introduced to Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. I can thank my dad for this. Aside from my own, flashlight-in-bed-reading almost every night, my dad used to tuck me and my sister in with chapter upon chapter of fun, often fantasy-filled, novels. As is imaginable, it didn’t take long for Harry Potter to shoot to the top of my “favorites” list.
Fast forward to present-day: When Brian Aiello invited me to pick a topic for our interview on his podcast, “Mirage: Speculating On Speculative Fiction,” J.K. Rowling was my first pick. This amazing author is one of the main reasons I write. I hope to one day instill in my readers the same passion for books that she did for me.
